SCA or Strong Customer Authentication is an authentication method that allows validating the authenticity of the user in the login process. This method adds an extra layer of security to the process and is required by European regulations.

The requirement of SCA in bank log-ins depends on each finance entity and it is up to them to decide -under certain minimum requirements set by law- when to require SCA or not. The SCA log-in is required by law by the PSD2 regulation which dictates that this enhanced security method must be used once every 90 days.
